UNITED NATIONS April 8 —
Iraq's U.N. Ambassador Mohammed Al-Douri said Tuesday the Iraqi
government is still in control of the country and he believes that
President Saddam Hussein is alive although Al-Douri said he has no
communication with Baghdad.
"I think that the president is in Baghdad and all the people are
there fighting, and it's OK," Al-Douri told Associated Press
Television News.
Despite the U.S. bombing Monday of a restaurant where Saddam and
his sons were believed to be meeting, the ambassador said he thinks
Saddam is still alive.
"The U.S. targeted him as usual," Al-Douri said. "They tried to
get him, but I think he knows very well that he is targeted by
Americans."
"This is a war ... a war of aggression. The Americans are there
to aggress our people, and our country. So we will see the results,
(but) not yet," he said.
